WFMW: Painless splinter removal

9/21/11 Update: This is an oldie, but a goodie. I still use this tip all the time!

Works for Me Wednesday

Big Sis, my 7-year-old, got a splinter last week. That used to mean Daddy digging at it with some super-sharp tweezers. Until I heard this idea somewhere:

Rub the splinter with a pumice stone to remove it.

So I had her wash her hands in the sink, then rub the splinter with the pumice stone. After about 5 strokes, she stopped to examine it.

Gone!

Easy and painless works for me! Check out more great ideas at Rocks in my Dryer We Are THAT Family.

  2. Oh what a great idea! “)

  3. Genius! I still have memories of my father chasing me down with a pair of tweezers saying, “It will only hurt a bit!”

  4. Angela says:

WOW… I too have some graphic memories of tweezers…. what a fabulous idea with the pumice stone. I will most definitely try that!

  5. I’m defintely going to file that one away for future use. It’s a lot less traumatic that the traditional route! 🙂

  6. Great idea! My boys are always having problems with splinter! Have a wonderful Christmas!

    Awesome Idea!

This is great for when the splinter isn’t sticking out and you can’t grab it with the scotch tape.

Thanks for posting this on my blog!
