WFMW: Best money-saving shopping websites

I’ve been doing a little extra online shopping lately. It started just before Black Friday, when I got the itch to get a jump on the best deals out there. So I checked out a few Black Friday sites. The best one I found, by far, was Deal News. They list deals–good ones!–from all over the web, and they’ll tell you if they’ve ever found that same item for less. That way, I never need to wonder if I could’ve gotten a better deal somewhere else. The best part is that they run year-round.

I’ve also added a couple of shopping toolbars to my Firefox browser. The first is Upromise, which kicks in college savings money to my kids’ 529 plans. Before, in order to get the kickback for shopping online, I’d have to remember to start at, which I could never manage to do. So I downloaded the toolbar, and at each shopping site, a bar appears that tells me what percentage I can get toward Upromise, and it’s automatically acknowledged.

A second toolbar pops up, too: the one for Retail Me Not. It’s a great coupon code website that gives codes and allows users to comment on whether that particular code worked for them. So when I arrive at the shopping website, a Retail Me Not toolbar appears that tells me what the best discount code is.

I was never a big stickler for shopping around and coupons, but with this economy, I’ll take all the help I can get! Saving money works for me!
